Abu Dhabi – Mubasher: Sharjah International Airport announced its AED 1.5 billion ($410 million) expansion plan, which will be implemented in multiple phases.

The plan includes the expansion of the local road network that serves the airport, along with airport's passenger terminal to increase its capacity to 20 million passengers, according to an official statement.

The expansion plan also includes the instalment of smart gateways, the Sharjah International Airport Authority (SIAA) revealed.

“The airport's expansion would significantly boost and multiply the number of passengers visiting Sharjah,” the SIAA’s chairman, Ali Salem Al Midfa, commented.
